A fish farmer has built a huge fish farm and is looking to cut the price of his fish, he says that it cost him virtually nothing to produce fish, his only limiting factor being the amount of water he has got. He is growing on 350,000 fish this year and specialises in carp from 10lb - 30lb. Home grown carp to 48lb currently reside in his specimen lake.

Congratulations to DT & Bewdley anglers

Even though it is highly unlikely that Des Taylor visits our cosy little forum I thought I'd publish a congratulations to him for mobilising hundreds of fellow anglers into protest mode to protect the fishing rights on the River Severn in the Bewdley town centre.

He has proven that anglers can have a voice if we are prepared to get off our collective backsides and use it to fend off vocal & proactive minorities that threaten our sport.

Aside of the 'conventional' baits such as boilies, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, worms, maggots and fake baits what other 'alternative' baits have you used in your angling career and what levels of success did you have?

Reading through 'Redmire Pool' got me thinking about this and the weird and wonderful baits, some of which have become popular over the years and some of which have never been seen again lol.

Self Take Equipment

For those who have seen my Catch Report you'll no doubt notice the horrendous quality of my self-take photo's, especially those taken at night. I use a standard Sony T7 digital with the beloved 10 sec autotake timer. It takes great photo's with someone operating but the quality of self takes is poor. I think this has something to do with the autofocus starting to work prior to the subject matter getting in the pic. I've tried to overcome this by having a background close to...

Does anyone know anything about these rods?... After using NG's for years,then switching to Free spirit XS's awhile back,im after a new set,i mut say the free spirits might of looked nice but performance wise,they sucked!! Now the all rounder which is the NG i couldnt of been more happy with and as much as im tempted to buy a new set,i see century has released a new rod called the FG... Now it apparently has alittle more poke than the NG' but is not as stiff as the SP' which...

Due to my problems at the moment and a picc line in my right arm ( a feed for my chemotherapy which hangs out) I think I need a BB to help me out as I dont want to spod and cause myself problems. I had a Microcat in the past and eventually got annoyed by other BB users and have hated them since! ( I sold it )

Im looking at either the Viper Icon or AT Procat. I like the fact that AT are not far off the M4 and I have paid them a visit in the past! Have heard some bad things about the...

Well its been a long time since ive posted upon the forum,lots has happened since ive been gone..Ive not wet a line once since the beginning of Dec,and to be honest,i havent even thought about doing so,or have i missed it...
But......... im gettin the vibe back im glad to say...Altho fishings been the last thing on my mind recently,only the other week,im ashamed to say i was staggering home from a another victims house at 5am,when i started to think how warm it felt,and the fine drizzle...

A worthy campaign

Even if you do not fish the Thames this campaign needs your support and doesn't cost anything to act.

The EA are planning to sell-off a load of lock keepers cottages on the Thames, this I (and others feel) will compromise the level of service that these guardians of the river can offer.

Lock keepers are not paid an awful lot and are on duty 24-7, the house on the river being part of their salary. The EA in its infinite wisdom (greed?) is planning to sell off these...

Front page of this weeks Angling Times is the news item about tests done over a period of time on certain baits. The study, carried out by respected fisheries management consultant Ash Girdler, involved groups of carp being fed an exclusive diet of a given bait over 12 weeks. The baits were peanuts, sweetcorn, maggots, tout pellets and shelf-life boilies. I got the set off Santa and saved them for my trip to France. I read Tiger Bay and to start off with thought it a little slow but sonn I got into it and thought it a brilliant read, I'm now 1/2 way through Fox Pool, and thoroughly enjoying it

The writings of carp anglers from yesteryear included physical facts about the fish other than just it's weight. The length of the carp and the girth, both measured in inches, were often recorded by the likes of Walker, Hilton, et. al. Do any of you still practice this, or know someone who does? What are the arguments for and against it? If it is a thing of the past, why is it no longer deemed to be relevant?

Baitboats - Good or bad?

Just come back from France and most of the week I didn't use one and caught a few fish but they moved out of range and after a day or so I boated a bait using Chads BB, I caught on it but have to admit I did feel a little guilty but am 100% certain I wouldn't have caught without it.

So, in those circumstances would you have used one?

After not fishing since about September last year, having to retrain as my job finished (now an electrician), had another hernia operation a week before Xmas and then resting for 3 months to make sure it healed properly, then finding a new job based at Heathrow and leaving sunday night and returning home friday night which I didn't mind because my house here in W Wales is up for sale so we can move to the Basingstoke/Reading area ( plenty of lakes

ACA Spring Raffle

I needn't tell you the sterling work that the ACA does, but with only 10,000 or so members signed up on behalf of 1.5m anglers then they do need all the help they can get.
