Well,
Iv managed to wrack up 46 nites this season, since june 16th most weeks iv done 4 nights a week (still with a full time job if working in a tackle shop counts haha) anyway iv managed to get 4 bites,

i lost 2 in 1 session with a run of %$%@ luck, with 2 hookpulls, first one weeded me solid and i kept constant pressure but it just didnt happen, then at 7 that evening i had another take, this time the line caught on a piece of line trailing from a bush, i reached a stale mate where i couldnt pull any harder but if i slackend off i could risk the fish going into the bush. i donned the life jacket put my knet through my rolled up matt and kicked off for the 20 yard swim to the bush, i got ther, felt down the line to the hooklength to only pull up a branch with loads of line around my hook... hows your luck?

I baited everynight for the next 4 nights with 3 pints of hemp.half a kilo of chopped and a bit of brown crumb, as i was only baiting the margins i could go down in the dark and bait up accurately without being seen or heard. i fished it for the first night on an over-nighter and i got the rigs spot on that night, the weather was ace, and i knew the fish where on the spot, getting the takes came to changing my line angle ever so slightly but it was working.

anyway i got the bite at 6.55, 5 minutes before pack-up time, i was adiment it was a tench untill i saw it roll and then it proceeded to flat-rod me 3 times before giving up and meeting the mesh of my net. i rang sam (colehill carper) as i knew he was on a pit just across the road, myself sam and a mate angling on the pit did the photos a lovely 26lb 4oz common. i got the pictures done quickly and got the fish back, and i was even on time for work aha

so since then iv done a %$%@ load more nights, they have drained the lake a good 6 foot, so my margin spots gone so iv taken to the open water swims.. i did 3 nights this weekend and on sunday night i had a stuttery take, the fish where well on the spot absoloutly loving the 20 kilos of particle id given them. i managed to get the fish withing 20 yards. i experienced something iv never had before.. the fish actually jumped while i was playing it absoloutly mad,i could see the rings even in the dark from the disturbance caused.. the lake was flat calm i could hear every swirl and wallow, the fish then kited around a permanently fixed buoy, i managed to get the fish back round the buoy it rolled on the surface the 20 or so yards out and with that the hook pulled..

thats gotta be all my bad luck for the season, its so frustrating Knowing i could do another 40 or so nights for 1 bite or even blank still.


anyway apart from chub fishing on the avon and stour thats my season so far..
