I was sat under my brolly and saw something swimming towards me but it def wasn't a duck, so got my binochulars out and couldn't believe my eyes. It carried on towards me so I sat very still and quiet and it came out of the water directly in my swim...........a hare WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!

The European brown hare (Lepus capensis or europaeus) takes readily to water and swims well. It often crosses from island to island off the coast of Scotland. Volume 4 of Grzimek's Encyclopedia of Mammals, published by McGraw-Hill Publishing Company in 1990 has a photograph of a swimming hare on pages 274-5 (the only one I could find). It has its head, shoulders and front paws out of the water. On page 291, Eberhard Schneider says that he determined that the field hare swims with all four feet in a kind of hopping motion. The wild rabbit moves the fore-paws forward beneath the neck and impels the body forward through the water with alternating vigorous thrusts by the hind legs. To summarise, it seems that hares swim well and are not afraid to dash into a watery refuge. They may cross streams to reach new feeding grounds and also swim to escape enemies. It seems that they use all four feet in a Dog paddle' or hopping motion. While the hares can swim, I don't think they are particularly physically adept for swimming'. Many species live in deserts and some species only swim if they have to.

Arrived at the lake about 7pm and just as we parked up the heavens opened. Load the barrow and across the already sodden field and arrive at the lake. Being "Mr Nice Guy" I give Chad 1sy choice of swims and so once that was decided set up the brolly. Rods out and I'm sat nice n comfortable with brew in hand. No signs of fish for me all day Another cheque book n pen for me but I'll let Chad say what he did Packed up and get the car loaded and then the wheels turned but we wet nowhere Spinning wheels and flying mud so I ordered Chad out the car to give it a push. After much grunting n groaning we get the car moving extremely slowly but eventually reach the track and solid ground The car is covered in mud and Chad has a sweat on (I've worked with for quite a few years now and never seen him sweat ) WE ARE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!

Chad as company. Arrived at the lake just before sunrise and made sure I parked on harder ground Unload the motor in the poruing rain and across a field to the lake. The lake was probably the highest I have ever seen it and very very coloured, we opted for the regualr swims, purely on this occasion the bank is a little higher. Rods cast to the spots, 1 on CH sweet corn and 1 on the home-mades The rain had eased by now but thought I had better get shelter set up as it had given showers all day. Set up and kettle on. Didn't have to wait too long for a take and I'm into a fish, only problem was it turns out to be a Chub. Can't believe this place, I don't hear of anyone else catching Chub except me Recast and about an hour later I'm in again, this time it was definitely and angry carp on the other end A decent scrap was had but was no match for the Grand Master and we soon had this beuty on the mat. Coming in at 17lb 8oz a very welcome visitor and my 1st carp of 2008. To cut a long story short I had 4 more carp and they got smaller each time Final tally was 1 chub 17lb 8oz 13lb 10oz 13lb 2oz 11lb 6oz and a single figure fish too And they all fell to the same rod......................The home mades WE ARE DERBY, SUPER DERBY

Arrived at the lake around 7.15 and it was a very chilly start. Rods out on their spots and kettle on, nothing showing except for a couple of ducks A few hours go by and after numerous cups of coffee and thinking Gaunty is a knob on Talk Sport and I get a take from my margin rod Not a match for my masterly skills and it's soon in the net Not the biggest of fish weighing in at 14lb 3oz but very welcome all the same. Sorry no pic but the self take wasn't too good (Now there's a line waiting for a reply) WE ARE DERBY, SUPER DERBY

My P.A.(Chad) was unavailable for either so I had to carry the gear to my own swim Tuesday at my syndi the forecast was a bright start but turning windy and wet, that forecast was bang on . About 30 minutes after taking this pic the heavens opened and didn't stop for rest of the day. It most've turned the fish off too 'cos I didn't catch, that's my excuse anyway Today I go to the club lake which I usually fish with Chad, set up and to be honest had no confidence, totally diff conditions from the day before, hardly any wind and very very sunny. No sightings of our scaley friends until my left hander signals a take, on the rods like a fly on poo and I'm in Instantly I just knew what it was, another bloody chub...........I'm getting sick of the things now (Nice fish caught on proper gear from a river) Recast and I had just finished firing in about 40 boilies and the same rod was off again, this time it was deffo an anfry carp on t'other end Coming in at 14lb 10oz not the biggest in the lake but it was a "not so common" common so I was happy with that Both fish coming in to the home-mades again WE ARE DERBY, SUPER DERBY
