did 2 nights at the weekend got down after work at 5pm and decided to go in a bay of about 5 acres that i had to my self with the strong sw wind blowing into
it and just had time 2 clip 1 rod up to the snags on the opposite bank. after getting everything sorted rods set up water filled up and put some bait in i got
the rods out. at around 8pm i heard a take further down the lake and it turned out that a mate landed a 20lb mirror. about 10 mins later i hear a crash
somewere in the bay and am full of confidence. i drift off untill im woken at 9:30 to a beep on the left rod as im putting on my shoes it tightens up and pulls
out of the clip a good fight follows with the fish kiting to get around the point on the mouth of the bay heavy presure stops the fish and a common of about
15lb slips into the net.i then wander to the other side of the bay to put some bait in and get the rod back out. back in the sack and making zzzzzz in seconds
im awoken in the the early hours to a drop back and i am soon conected to a carp that thinks its a bream coming in like a sack of wet s*** untill its under the
tip the thinks its a pike nearly tail walking when it gets near the net. after a few moments the pikey bream carp is in the net and weighs in at 26lb 8oz
photos done walk round again to put more bait in and get rod back out. back to sleep untill 5:30 when what looks like a liner turns into a drop back and a very
slow fight results into a 21lb common. more bait in and rod back out i put the kettle on only to remember i have no milk or suger that goes off and back to
sleep untill i everntuarly role out of bed at 8:30am feeling very happy with the results from the nigh before.
whe next night the wind picks up and is hacking into the corner i am fishing so it was no surprize the the right swinger cracks the rod and everything pulls tight to the locked up clutch a powerfull fight from about 90yardsfollows with some hairy moment with the entrance to the bay to my right but after 5 mins a fish i reconise as the 3/4 lin is safely in the net on the scales she goes 27lb 15oz. phoos done more bait out and rod back out it isnt long till i have a single beep on the left rod and a look at the banger i notice it moves about 2cm up and stays there as i lift the rod i notice the fish has moved a long way on a tight line and is kiting towards the entrance on the bay heavy side strain doesnt affect the situation and i can soon feel grating on the line. the fish does come back this side of the bay only to dive into a snag in my right margin a few lunges and im almost definate i feel the hook pull and after putting the rod down and climbing the snag with a storm pole i can feel nothing so i hold the rod at full compression and then the line gives. gutted i cut off al the frayed line and get the rod back out in the night i land 2 more fish a 22lb mirror that was a recapture. and a 15lb common.

went to a local day ticket water today just for a bit of fun after a little wile off. got down there at 7 am with 1 other angler there so i set up on the back
of the wind at the start but soon got itchy feet watching the wind hacking into the far corner of the lake. so up sticks im round there and set up 1 rod on the
island and the other in the corner by a water outlet a few club mix boilies around it and i sit back. action on the zig rig to the island soon starts with a
couple of small commons of about 4lb. at 2pm the rod on the water outlet gives a few beeps and the hanger is soon cracked up onto the rod. on lifting the rod i
realise this is no small common with a very powerfull and slow fight the fish runs up and down the margins getting a bit to close to some lillies than i would
of liked. after about 15mins the fish roles and goes in the net first try. i instantly reconise it as the lake biggen and this is confirmed when the scales
swing round to 31lb 4oz. give nick a call and he is soon doing the pics for me. cheers mate!
better pics to come from nick |

It all started a couple of weeks ago when i spoke to dean at UCN and just a week later my first batch of SPICEZYME arrived keen to try it out I planned a 1
night session on a local pit on my club ticket. I arrived on the Friday evening at about 4pm and decided to set up on the teeth of a sw wind with Adam to my
left and later nick to my right a little social was in order. the rods were baited with SPICEZYME and two spots were found about a kilo on each spot and im
sorted. the rain soon started and we all retreated to our bivvy's (mine leaking like there was no bivvy there) at 12 midnight my right rod tightened up and
i was in a short spirited fight resulted in a 17lb common was in the net a quick photo done rod back out and back in the sack until at 7am the same rod pulled
tight and i was in again a short scrap resulted in a 14lb common quick photo on the matt and breakfast is on my mind!
the next result came on an overnighter midweek last week. got to the lake at 5pm and quickly put both rods out tight to the island both on UCN SPICEZYME a few free baits and im sorted. that night the lake was alive with fish and a take was defiantly on the cards this was confirmed at 5:30 when a screamer on the right rod and a very hard fight resulted in a 18lb common photo on the matt and start packing up (oh how I love overnighters!!). My next session was a 2nighter I got down the lake at 7pm and a quick set up was needed both rods out just before dark bivvy set up and im sorted. That night was clear and cold with a north easterly blowing and I wasn't surprised atall when the swingers were still on the floor in the morning. The clear cold night turned into a clear scorching day and at 11am I could just make out the black shape of a carp then another and another, I soon grabbed the floater rod bucket of mixers and other bits and pieces. When I was round to the fish it was evident there was a lot on the top but they seemed very wary of floater baits after 6 hours 1 lost fish and a very useless floater angler I retreated with my tail between my legs. That night the conditions were a lot better than the previous night and I ended up with 2 runs that night 1 at 12midnight 1 at 4am the weights being 14lb and 19lb both on SPICEZYME. |

Nice results there mate, sounds like a few very enjoyable sessions, shame about the floater fishing but you gotta be in it to win it as they say.
